HOAX EMAILS WARNING
There are a number of hoax emails going around at the moment, and I
would not want any
U3A member to get involved in them.
The usual signs that
it is a hoax are: 1) they always say they are genuine,
and not a joke; 2)
they always ask you to pass it on to everyone you know;
3) they may well
come from someone you know; 4) they claim to have
originated from a
reliable source e.g. Microsoft, Norton, Barclays Bank.
It is easy to check
if they are genuine or not, so please do not pass them
on without checking
as follows: Log on to www.hoax-slayer.com and type
in the subject
matter of the suspect message. (A recent one was "Life is
beautiful", give it
a try). You will then be able to read all about it.
Even if you trust
the person who sent it to you this does not mean they
know that it is
genuine, try asking them how and when they checked it
before sending it
on. If you don't want to go to the bother of checking it
out, just delete it
and ask your friend to do the same. Alternatively
forward it to me and
I will check it out and get back to you. At worst they
could contain a
virus, but otherwise they just clog up the internet and
mailboxes, slow down
the internet, waste time and electricity, and cause
unecessary worry to
a lot of people.

After an e-mail
invitation from Anita Smith , who teaches food at St Peter's School , a
nervous group of Foodies ,accompanied by assorted friends and
relations , arrived at the school playing field in pouring rain to take
part in a cook-in . Before us loomed an articulated lorry which turned
out to be a fully fitted kitchen - so fully fitted in fact that it came
with two ready made cooks and a washer upper . We all looked and
thought ' if only ' especially as the washer upper was a good looking
chap . Handsome and well trained - what else do we need , ladies ?
